Chewing Gum Make Wrinkles?
Chewing gum may make us more fresh breath even divert us from the bad habit of smoking. But some plastic surgeons actually demanded we stay away from chewing gum. Why, chewing gum-forming wrinkles in the facial wrinkles. Really?
“Many of my patients who are enthusiasts of chewing gum, has a pattern of wrinkles around their mouths,” says Dr. Joel Schlesinger, an expert in dermatology and plastic surgery from Omaha, Nebraska. “That’s why I started thinking, chewing gum cause wrinkles in the face.”
Although until now no studies that provide the link between gum-lined with wrinkles on the face, but this issue has erupted in cyberspace, such as beauty blogs.
But for some plastic surgeons, chewing gum can damage the muscle tissue around the mouth. One of the mengamini this is Dr. Hema Sundaram, a plastic surgeon from Washington, DC. Hema explained when we chew gum there is a movement we do repeatedly. Movement is then made which then imprint lines around our mouths.
“Because the muscles are asked to perform one movement over and over again to form a construction strokes,” he said.
Construction strokes that arise due to muscle movements repeated by Sundaram will damage some of the skin tissue which then contributed to the decrease in skin elasticity.
But we should not immediately dispose of chewing gum, for the German study conducted in October 2009 and, in fact concluded that chewing gum makes you concentrate better. Even some of the other studies mentioned, chewing gum can reduce stress.
Just as the science of enjoying the food, we should enjoy the bubble gum in natural limits. So the possibility of the muscles around the mouth to slack can be minimized by chewing gum when you’re stressed or want to make a fresh breath back.
